Antikythera Mechanism

This is my Steampunk Assemblage called "Antikythera Mechanism". I entered it into our local art centers annual juried spring show. My daughter also entered and we both had a piece accepted into the show! The piece shown here even got an honorable mention :) if you look close I used mostly watch parts and gears. I even made her goggles out of watches.

Bullet Jewelry Designs

I decided to experiment with something new! My brother gave me a bunch of used bullet casings and I decided to etch them and make some new necklaces.

First I cleaned them and put a design on them

Then they got a chemical bath

And here they are after they were blackened and cleaned off! I really like how they turned out

We will see what people think and if they go over well I will be making more :)

Bow Valley Painting

This is a painting I did for my brother Brit. He is going to donate it to a local church for a fund raiser. I knew I wanted to do a painting of the Bow Valley church. I went to school and lived near Bow Valley for a short time. When I went online looking for good pics of the church I found the picture below. I fell in love with the colors and the unique perspective of the pic. I knew I wanted to paint it and when I saw that the photo was taken by Alan Bartels I was really excited! Alan works for Nebraska Life Magazine and I met him back last spring when the magazine did a story on my Steampunk jewelry. I e-mailed Alan and asked if I could use his photo for a painting and he gave his permission, as long as I stopped by the magazine office to show him the finished work. I think its a close interpretation of the photo, not exact but close.

Thank you Alan for letting me use your photo!

Restocking the Steampunk

Christmas craft fairs wiped out my stock of Steampunk jewelry....which is great! No complaints here :) but now I'm on a mission to restock for Soup-R-Art, a fundraiser for our local art center. So here is a preview of some of the new pieces I've made:

Steampunk custom orders done!

A few new pieces that were custom orders for Christmas. It's always fun and a challenge to create jewelry with someones watch parts and jewelry parts but I think these turned out great!

Owls, dragonflies, and typewriter keys

These are a few of my newer pieces of jewelry. I've been using lots of typewriter keys in the new pieces. I've been to several craft shows and have several more to go. Owls seem to be a big thing this year. I've made several and sold them all so new ones are on the way. I wonder what the next big trend will be?
